Lokesh Dhakar’s Lightbox 2 and its jQuery Plugin Clones

I have used Lokesh Dhakar’s Lightbox 2 script for the pictures on this journal. I would say that this scrips is awesome. But there’s one problem, its size. All the script, stylesheet, and the images have the size of 224 KB. Well, I would say that this is quite annoying knowing that people should download that size of data to open the images on my journal. So then I came up with the idea of looking for a substitute that is using jQuery so there are some scripts that is used together by lots of script functions.

I was about to use jQuery thickbox but it’s not maintained anymore by the creator. What’s surprising is that I found two scripts similar to Lokesh Dhakar’s Lightbox and they are claimed to be based on Lokesh Dhakar’s Lightbox by the creator. They are jQuery Lightbox Plugin by Leandro Vieira Pinho (120 KB) and Slimbox by Christophe Beyls (28 KB). Based on the file size, I think I’ll just use Slimbox instead of jQuery Lightbox Plugin.
